Beauty, at a cost

A fire that started in Paradise Valley on Sat. afternoon has already grown to over 10,000 acres, filling the skies with smoke and ash and putting everyone on edge at what might happen next. As of this morning, 6 homes have been at least partially burned. My boss' home is right in the middle of this beast, but was still ok as of noon yesterday. Several other co-workers live in or very close to the path the fire seems to be taking. It's strange to say, knowing that so much is in danger, that these images are beautiful, but as much as a small campfire can captivate a group of venturers, this baby is mind boggling.

The second helicopter image has been saved a bit bigger than most pics I post. Those guys' job must be insane...

Festival Folks

First off, click here and get some tunes rollin' (Chris Smither, pic 11).

Ok, ok, this is two posts in a row...and it's going to be a long one, but I went to a great music festival at Targhee last weekend with Doolittle and the crew and couldn't resist sharing of my favs. Amazing music, sunshine, cameras allowed, BYOB (if you knew enough) and lots of pretty people...could it be any better? I love the guy sleeping in the foreground of the second pic, and the girl hoola-ing with 4 hoops near the end. And, of course, Our Lady La Tigre, bringing up the rear with her leg of festival chicken. Hope you enjoy.

Yellow River

...literally, a yellow river. Ok, maybe not, but close! Last week I went to the (what once was a) Natural Bridge here in MT. A forest fire over the mountain in the Pine Creek area was letting loose a massive cloud of smoke, which the sun was shining through and casting this fantastic color onto the water. You can't see the green riverbed too well in the picture, but it was an amazing thing to witness.

Also, Cre, thanks for acknowledging LiPS' 1-year. I like that you went back and pulled some pics from throughout...great memories like that shot of us being out there in the -13 degree N. Gal. Val. wonderland...then us being back in almost the same place in shorts. Sweet, brother. I'll try to come up with a fun post...I'm always too serious with my photos!

LiPS 1 year anniversary

Cheers to the first year of the Livingston Photo Society! There's been so many amazing posts in the last year. I hope everyone will upload a photo to celebrate the anniversary. Thanks LiPS for all of the great entertainment, and taking me to so many cool places with photos.

Branham Lakes

Branham Lakes are located in the Tobacco Roots, 7 miles up the Mill Creek drainage from Sheridan, Montana. It's a beautiful place. I spent the weekend canoeing up there with Amanda and Boris. We had so much fun. The horse flies were tenacious and they didn't let up. I dove in the water many times just to get away from them. Besides the horse flies, I found a top ten favorite camping spot at those lakes. Can't wait to go back.

Ministry and Revco...my ears are still ringing!

Revolting Cocks first, last four are Ministry.

Middle of the week madness, it was a good show. I actually liked the Revco show more than Ministry, they kept playing their new Anti-Bush albums which gets old after the first 5 songs...and they have replaced most of the original lineup including Barker, with some sweaty animal who flipped me off for taking his picture and tryed to sick one of the Roadies on me! I did get to meet the guitarist for Revco, he was hanging out in the crowd, cool guy but he has a weak handshake and soft hands...which made me uncomfortable... Revco's bassist is freakin' hot in a dangerous sort of way. I got some good pics, and good video clips w/bad sound quality, it was even too much for the camera's microphone! Anyways, hope you all enjoy the pics.
