Finally, the Smith
Here are a bunch of photos from my 5-day, 60-mile float trip over the 4th of July (I skipped my 10-year high school reunion to go). What an amazing trip. People look at me weird when they find out that I don't fish...and I was on probably the prized secret of Montana's waters. Folks pay money and wait all year to find out if they've drawn a permit to float the Smith River. Look at the size of the puffball mushroom we found...it's a hogleg. I've never seen one larger than the size of a quarter. Eric, another floater that went with us, found several fresh ones about the size of softballs...which we promptly cooked up and ate. Holy good stuff. - CR
